Australian Bronwyn Polson created her Friendship Page in 1996, which gets thousands of visitors each day, as she continues to add contemporary and classic quotes and poetry about friendship.

New Jersey-based David and Michelle Riklan have created the website, www.selfgrowth.com, with a section devoted to friendship-related information. The mission state for their website is: "to provide a single central resource for information on Self Improvement, Self Help and Personal Growth on the Internet."

Web site for Robert D. Putnam's book, Bowling Alone (Simon & Schuster, 2000), a 541-page tour de force that helped inspire a dialogue about the need to strengthen social connections in America.

Auxiliary web site, of the main site of Dallas-based www.cyberparent.com excerpting other sources on friendship covering making and maintaining friends as well as when friendships end.

Founded in 1977 by Wayne Smith, a Presbyterian minister, Friendship Force International (also known as FFI) has had approximately 500,000 people partaking in 3,300 Friendship Force exchanges in more than 60 countries.

The mission statement for this initiative to "highlight the importance of leadership and co-operation in improving peoples lives and show how people together can bring about a positive global change."

Educational website with this mission statement: An online community for all women, especially women of a certain age (over 40).
